ENGINE TELEGRAPH SYSTEMS

Telegraph system is a system used for communication between the bridge and the team of engineers in the engine contorl room of the ship. The system consists of three telegraphs located in the following areas:

• Captain’s Bridge
• ECR (Engine Control Room)
• ER (Engine Room)

It is used when the speed of the ship is changing. The officer orders change of the speed by setting the appropriate command from the telegraph panel located on the bridge. His command is mirrored on the remaining panels. The team of engineers in the engine control room executes the command and confirms its execution by the telegraph panel. Telegraph master station is responsible for proper communication between all panels.

The system is equipped with various types of optical and acoustic signaling so that the team of engineers is informed about the priority of individual orders issued by the captain on the bridge.
